Huffman Travel’s Diane Colaizzi has been to Paris a time or two. And knows her hotels. Just back from the City of Lights, she dishes on her favorite Left Bank stay – Hotel Esprit Saint Germain..
“Walking into Esprit Saint Germain was like going into the home of a friend or family – charming and comfortable. Unlike many five-star Parisian hotels, with stiff (often snooty) staff, Hotel Esprit was warm, welcoming and felt like home. Its location is perfect, with shops and restaurants nearby; and during my visit, a movie was being filmed at the Saint Sulpice Church right down the street. Watching the filming was fun.
Inroom, the linens and beds were divine; the shower pressure, exhilarating; and there was a wonderful selection of wine, beer, soda, water and snacks – all complimentary (both inroom and in the living area). One evening, we were too tired to go out so the staff brought us an assortment of cheese, crackers, bread and fruit. Upon departure, we were given cookies and water – plus more cheese, crackers, and even wine – to get us through the TGV train trip to Avignon.
Most noticeable, however, was the devotion of the staff to the hotel. Friendly and warm, the staff is knowledgeable about where to go and how to get there. And such gracious hosts. We were treated as family, which makes sense as Esprit Saint Germain is not just a hotel, it is a home!”
