Italian Excellence in Florence and Rome

Location, location, location. One of the most important factors in choosing a hotel is its location. It may be remote, almost secret, or it may be highly recognizable – it all depends on what you are looking for in a specific trip. Here, let’s focus on two gems located in the heart of some of the most beautiful cities: Florence and Rome. Andiamo!

Experience Tuscany with Hotel Savoy

From the heart of Florence, Hotel Savoy curates extraordinary experiences, in and around the city, to discover Tuscany like never before. Here are some of our personal favorites!

Truffle Hunting

For a truly memorable Tuscan visit, book a truffle hunting experience led by your local guide, followed by an exquisite lunch served in a private country house in the undulating terrain of Bagno a Ripoli. Here, you can reconnect with the natural world and enjoy the ritual of one of Florence’s most treasured traditions.

Organic Pizza and Gelato Making Classes

Florence is bursting with exquisite art and architecture, but those craving nature can head to the rolling hills of Chianti, where vineyards blend into olive groves and guests can take part in organic pizza and gelato making classes on a farm in Villa Olmo in Impruneta. Chianti, one of the most fascinating regions of Tuscany, is celebrated for its peasant culture and fine cuisine and is also where the famous red Chianti DOCG is produced.

Wine Tasting

No trip to Florence is complete without a taste of fine Tuscan wines: guests of Hotel Savoy can indulge in a wine tasting experience with sommelier Paolo Piccardi, either outside on the hotel terrace amidst the vibrant Emilio Pucci décor, or in the comfort of their Olga Polizzi-designed suite. Piccardi shares his favorite wines and gives you his valuable perspective on the region’s fantastic vineyards and the future of wine drinking.

Le Vie di Dante

This summer, as Italy marks 700 years since the death of its most celebrated poet, Dante Alighieri, embark on a ‘Le vie di Dante’ experience. Trace Italy’s most celebrated poet’s life through Florence’s narrow medieval streets after indulging in a full breakfast served at the outdoor terrace of the Hotel Savoy’s Irene Restaurant.

Cusona Castle Tour

Forty-five minutes outside of town, near San Gimignano, Cusona Castle, owned by the Guicciardini Strozzi Family, is a must-visit. Princesses Irina and Natalia Strozzi accompany guests on tours of the 1,000-year-old property and host a range of activities from painting lessons in the garden to wine tasting in the historic cellars.

Embrace the Outdoors with Hotel de la Ville

Hotel de la Ville, Rome has given the old-fashioned family reunion an elaborate new twist with a selection of Roman experiences for everyone to enjoy.

Combining major cultural sights with beautiful piazzas and the charm of a picturesque village, Rome is a magnet for both history buffs and city explorers. Take a day off from the museums and explore Piazza del Campidoglio, go ‘backstage’ at the Colosseum, or walk along the Appian Way. These are just a handful of the outdoor moments you can enjoy, steps away from Hotel de la Ville.

The beautiful Piazza del Campidoglio was designed by Michelangelo to create an impressive civic square on the ruins of the Capitol. This Renaissance masterpiece, on top of the Capitoline hill, is just a seven-minute drive from Hotel de la Ville.
