How to Spend a Perfect Day at Samaritaine in Paris
by Virtuoso with Samaritaine
Samaritaine Paris Pont-Neuf – one of the city’s oldest department stores – kept Parisians in designer dresses and trend-setting styles for generations. Since 1870, the Right Bank grand magasin (department store) was the place to people-watch and its restaurant the reservation to grab. So when the “Samar,” as Parisians call it, shut its doors in 2005 due to structural concerns, it left a significant gap in the fashion capital. After a 16-year closure and five-year renovation, the grande dame reopened in 2021, restored to its former glory with twenty-first-century touches.
