Special Kenya Chartered Safari

This incredible 14-day trip to Kenya in late November features prolific safari wildlife, private transportation, and physical distancing at every turn!

As Kenya reopens its borders to travelers, we’ve partnered with Great Plains Conservation to design a “once in a lifetime” safari, taking over 4 luxury safari camps and arranging chartered transatlantic flights to help 30 eager travelers reach their dream safari destination. This safari is designed with physical distancing, stringent health recommendations, and the best private and personalized service in mind.

This safari grants 30 passengers access to a chartered Boeing 787 Transatlantic flight with 180-degree reclining beds and first-class service. Upon arrival, travelers are separated into 3 groups of 10 travelers each, minimizing interaction between travelers. Each group will visit all four safari camps in a rotating sequence, and all staff at each camp will be tested for COVID-19 before a guest steps foot on property.

Mara Plains Camp (3 nights)

Mara Plains Camp is a one-of-a-kind, seven-tent camp located in the private Olare Motorogi Conservancy, just on the northern boundary of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. This intimate camp, Kenya’s second Relais & Chateaux property, blends the finest in wildlife viewing on an extensive traversing area of 100,000 acres of private conservancy land as well as the world-renowned Maasai Mara. Each guest at Mara Plains contributes considerably to the success of the Olare Motorogi Conservancy’s flourishing ecosystem; conservation fees paid safeguard this habitat, while supporting over 1,000 Maasai families.

The camp is nestled in a lush forest on the meandering bends of the Ntiakitiak River and serves as a subtle refuge among the wild. Olare Motorogi Conservancy is reputed to have the lowest vehicle density in the Maasai Mara region, while also having the highest concentration of big cats anywhere in Africa. By day and night, the camp is a sanctuary for resident species, including many of the Maasai Mara’s 300 bird species. After dark, larger mammals frequent the camp and Maasai warriors escort guests to and from their rooms. Hippos snorting and leopards barking often provide the night’s chorus.

Mara Nyika Camp (3 nights)

Mara Nyika is set in a valley, straddling a small stream, amid the private and exclusive Naboisho Conservancy. 500 local landowners came together to create Naboisho Conservancy, the second largest conservancy in the greater Maasai Mara region, and protects nature and cultural heritage, tourism, and enhancement of livelihoods for the local communities.

Wildlife viewing often starts at sunrise, returning to camp for a late breakfast and departing again in the mid-afternoon after tea before returning just after sunset. Guests can also opt to go out all day with a packed breakfast, lunch, and beverages. Night drives are particularly prolific and while they take patience, sightings commonly include lesser-known nocturnal mammals and even lion and hyena hunts.
