New Zealand had been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. As our kids grow older, I’m increasingly aware that our opportunities for extended family trips are limited. So this past Spring Break, we took the plunge, made the long journey, and spent two unforgettable weeks exploring New Zealand.

It was a trip like no other—none of us wanted to leave!

First Impressions: A Land of Adventure & Hospitality

From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by:

  • The breathtaking landscapes—snow-capped mountains, pristine lakes, and lush rolling hills

  • The warmth of the people, who welcomed us with genuine hospitality

  • The sense of adventure that defines life in New Zealand

Every day was an adventure, whether we were:

  • Hiking through dramatic landscapes

  • Fishing in crystal-clear rivers

  • Helicoptering to a glacier

  • Jet boating through thrilling rapids

  • Tagging endangered Kiwi birds

  • Wine tasting at world-class vineyards

Despite the non-stop activities, we never felt rushed or exhausted. The pace of life in New Zealand is just right—active and exhilarating, yet never overwhelming.

Luxury Lodges: A Home Away from Home

One of the highlights of our trip was staying in New Zealand’s renowned luxury lodges. These extraordinary accommodations are among the best in the world, offering:

  • Stunning, remote locations with breathtaking views

  • Impeccable hospitality that felt warm and personal

  • World-class cuisine, featuring local, seasonal ingredients

Most evenings, we enjoyed multi-course dinners, yet the atmosphere remained relaxed and inviting. No formal attire required—just smart casual, Colorado-chic vibes.

Packing Made Simple

An unexpected perk of this trip? Packing was effortless.

With most days spent outdoors, our go-to uniform was:

  • Activewear (Lululemon, sneakers, and layers)

  • Versatile clothing for New Zealand’s famously unpredictable weather (yes, you really can experience all four seasons in one day!)

A Journey That Left a Lasting Impression

This trip left an indelible mark on us, and we are already dreaming of our return to New Zealand.

From adrenaline-fueled adventures to moments of pure tranquility, this destination delivered everything we hoped for and more.

I have no doubt we’ll be back!
